LGBTQ+ Movies To Forward In 2021
Here Are A Couple of LGBTQ+ Movies To Forward In 2021

It’s safe to say that the way we’ve been watching movies this year has been redefined to say the least. From production companies premiering their movies via streams to people being able to host and attend virtual film festivals, the world of cinema has shifted drastically in the wake of a global pandemic. This means a great number of us usual movie goers have been left in the dust when it comes to experiencing great movies in real time. Hopefully, things progress more during the next year, but until then, here are three upcoming LGBTQ+ films that we can’t wait to see in 2021.

The Eternals (February 2021)
Who doesn’t love the Marvel Cinematic Universe? With many of its features moving from theater releases to online streaming via Disney+, audiences can ready themselves to watch this upcoming blockbuster from the comfort of their homes. The Eternals is an action/fantasy adventure movie about a race of immortals beings that inhabited planet Earth long before humans. In this film, we hope to learn about the Eternal’s history and civilizations, as well as how they fit into the rest of the MCU. The movie claims to depict the first openly gay couple in a superhero movie, as well as the first gay kiss between two male superheros. With this and the combination of a stellar cast, (Angelina Jolie, osagie enaihoHarry Styles, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani) this movie is on our watch list for sure.
Benedetta (TBA, sometime in 2021)
Benedetta is a French and Dutch film that depicts the classic forbidden love trope. Set in the 17th century, a newly converted nun played by Virginie Efira begins an affair with another woman. Not much is known about this film, except that it is based on the non-fiction biography Immodest Acts - The life of a lesbian nun in Renaissance Italy, written by Judy C. Brown. Regardless, we are awaiting this film with great expectations and can’t wait to see the film for the highly-anticipated drama it is. The film is set to premiere at the 2021 Film Festival.

Call Me By Your Name 2 (TBA, possibly Summer 2021)
“I remember everything.” Fans of Luca Guadagnino 2016 film Call Me By Your Name have been grasped by these three simple words for years now. Coming from Oliver, played by Armie Hammer, our main character, Elio, (played by Timothee Chalamet, respectfully), listens to the love of his life say a final goodbye. The ending scene to this now cult-classic is heartbreaking and beautiful all at once, leaving audiences wanting more of Elio’s story. If this sounds like you, you’ll be glad to know that a sequel of the movie has been in the works for quite some time now. Set to take place at the start of the AIDS epidemic, fans and spectators alike are patiently waiting to see what more this story holds. Although we don’t know much of exactly when this movie will come out, we can confidently say that Elio and Oliver will share a screen together once more.
